I'm revisiting 'There I go falling in love again' which myself, dear Bobby Eli (R.I.P.) and Chiquita Green wrote in Philly, September 2008. Bobby did the production, mixing and mastering work, but I did come up with the original song demo, harpsichord and pizzicato strings idea ๐ Chiquita organised all the wonderful vocal interpretations throughout the song.
The main instrumental chorus lick and the key change came from an incomplete demo I did years before and sent Bobby prior to the 2008 session. He liked it and believed it would be a good song! Chiquita was the featured artist on the eventual original release and is a tough act to follow for sure.
I enjoyed the 2008 session with Bobby and Chiquita and how we worked with the rhythm track and sweetening bouncing ideas around. I think it's a great song and Chiquita's delivery superb. I believe there is more mileage with the song especially with a few different mixes too. Also watching the MFSB/Salsoul Orchestra session musicians perform on the session was a thrill. All they had were chord charts that T G Conway (R.I.P.) scribbled out on paper in the studio and presented to them on the first day of the session, plus listening to the demo we created in the studio the day before.
This latest demo is evolving and more wah wah has been added by a great talent, Piera Mussardo, from Italy. I saw one of her terrific YouTube performances of a 1970s Barry White song/recording called 'Let the music play' and contacted her via her website url to inquire whether she would be interested in playing on this track. A great talented musician indeed. The last minute of the song has a refreshing counter melody changing things slightly as it chugs along to the fade out. In addition I am seriously contemplating some live harp from a session musician/contractor. That is easier said then done!
If released, I will include the original short 2005 instrumental demo which was simply named '25' in the early days (written for a potential UK Northern Soul film). It then became '25's another number' which had lyrics on its own merit, then in Philly 'Never too late' and finally 'There I go falling in love again' in Philly again. In fact I think there was another UK titled version of the song somewhere. You can hear the remnants of 'Never too late' as a lyric on the last line of the chorus on 'TIGFILA'. Stay tuned๐ธ
